Queens Maid

Quick Bio

Queen's Maid burst onto the downtown scene in late 2006, filling a void of original hard rock that hasn't been seen since Persona (The Novaks) stormed downtown years before. To compliment the dozen or so original tunes they had been showcasing, they began to flesh out their set lists with covers of their biggest influences, such as Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam and Guns N Roses. After only a year of working the original and cover scene, the band began to receive recognition for their electric live show, and was named the Newfoundland Herald's Band to Watch for in 2008. Since then, Queens Maid has played a number of noteworthy shows such as opening for the Novaks, playing George Street Festival and playing Salmon Festival's Red Cliff Rocks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where can I get your EP?

A. Fred's Records, CD Plus, iTunes, Amazon, Napster, this website (there's a button on the left!)

Q. Where did the name 'Queens Maid' come from?

A. It's the first and last letters of everyones names.

Q. Why did you call the EP 'Pound'?

A. Because 'Led Zeppelin III' was taken

Q. Where did the idea for the EP cover come from?

A. It's an homage to the Stone's 'Sticky Fingers' cover. Motley Crue did the same for thier debut, but had a guy in leather pants and chains. We decided to stick to jeans and a microphone. We are just a bunch of regular guys that love rocking out, and this cover represents that pretty well. But in all seriousness, our photographer Sandra shot a pic of Sandy's crotch as a joke, and we thought the picture came out badass. So we used it for the cover.

Q: Where do the ideas for your original songs come from?

A: K-Rock mostly...

Q: Where are your members from?

A: Four fifths hail from New Wes Valley, and have set up residence in St. John's Newfoundland... the other member is from Mars.

Q: Is it true that Steve has his chest shaved?

A: Undoubtedly. Brazilian-waxed actually, that way it takes longer to grow back. It was once in the shape of a heart in tribute to our fallen bear brothern Lion heart - who as we all know lost to Shreeky and Beastly in the great chariot race of Season 5 Episode 13.

Obviously this is all a pile of foolish. Check out these interviews from the Scope, the Current or the Herald for some sensible info.
